SHAHRUKH KHAN's ... BILLU BARBER

STORY

Billu (Irfan Khan) is a poor barber who lives with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and their two children, Gunja (Mitali Mayakar) and Ronak (Pratik Dalvi) in the village of Budbuda. He also spends time with his close friends Budbudiya (Rajpal Yadav) and Naubat Chacha (Asrani). Though struggling, Billu lives an uneventful life until Bollywood superstar Sahir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) comes to the village for a film shoot.
Billu has mentioned to his family that he knows Sahir from the past but has never elaborated how he knows the star. When his children talk about their father's friendship with the star, word spreads throughout the village. Virtually overnight, Billu, who had previously been scorned by most due to his lowly state, becomes the center of attention. People who had spurned him only the week before now call him a close friend so that he will introduce them to Sahir. Billu refuses and downplays the friendship. Even so, the powerful businessman Sahukaar Daamchand (Om Puri) demands to see Sahir and offers Billu expensive gifts in order to gain such a meeting. When Billu consistently fails to introduce the people of the village to Sahir, his situation changes once again. He is accused of lying about his friendship and everyone — including his wife and children — begin to doubt his character and integrity. Rather than defend himself, Billu remains quiet about the nature of his and Sahir's friendship.
On Sahir's last day in the village, the star speaks at a local school. He tells the children about his own impoverished childhood when he had nothing but a special friendship with another young boy, named Billu. It was Billu who took care of Sahir and eventually helped him travel to Mumbai where Sahir became a star. Billu, who is standing at the back of the event, leaves during the talk without revealing to Sahir that he is there. Bu the townspeople, realizing their error, take Sahir to Billu's house. Billu's children come home and apologize to their father. Then, Sahir appears, and Billu and Sahir are reunited. In the end, Sahir must leave for another shoot but promises that his and Billu's friendship is reignited and will remain.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's... RAB NE BANA DI JODI

STORY

Shy, introverted, and kind-hearted Surinder "Suri" Sahni (Shahrukh Khan) is an office worker for Punjab Power. He quietly falls in love with the daughter of his former professor (M.K. Raina), beautiful and vivacious Tania "Taani" Gupta (Anushka Sharma), whom he first sees during the preparations for her wedding. Upon their first meeting however, Taani jokingly berates and blames him for setting an impossible set of standards (reiterated by her father) that she was never able to meet as a child. A short while later, Taani's father suffers a heart attack when the entire wedding party learns that her fiancé and his family were killed in a traffic accident. Fearing that Taani will be alone in the world, the professor on his deathbed asks Suri to marry her. Suri concedes; Taani tearfully agrees only to please her father.
After a hasty wedding, Suri takes Taani to his ancestral home in Amritsar. While his good nature leads Suri to treat her with exceptional care and patience, he is too frightened to profess his love for her. However, Taani tells him that while she will try to be a good wife, she can never love him due to having no love left within her. Suri, though, continues to indulge her every desire. This includes frequent visits to the cinema to see song and dance films which appeal to Taani's fantasies about romance and her passion for dancing. She soon asks for Suri's permission, which he grants, to take an expensive dance class with the company Dancing Jodi to escape her mundane life at home.
During one visit to the cinema, Suri feels inadequate in comparison to the strong, masculine images that Taani admires and later asks his childhood friend Balwinder "Bobby" Khosla (Vinay Pathak), a hair-salon owner, for advice on how to win her love. Bobby is eager to help and suggests a complete makeover (shaving off his mustache, changing his hairstyle, outfitting him in casual Western-style clothing including aviator-style sunglasses with oversized pastel lenses). Suri is thus transformed into the swaggering, loud, rude, and fun-loving "Raj Kapoor", named by Suri after the hero in the movie that Taani had admired. He joins the dance class and by chance — or, as he believes, by divine intervention — becomes Taani's partner in the competition. Despite Raj's initial crudeness — a result of Surinder's inexperience with women and his attempt to emulate the "cool" images from movies — he and Taani become friends as they work together on their dance routine. Suri feels encouraged when Taani does not tie a rakhi (holy thread) on "Raj's" wrist during the festival of Raksha Bandhan (for to do so would indicate that she thought of him only as a brother). Thus, after a period of time, Raj declares his love for her. Suri's ruse poses a dilemma for both of them. Taani enters into a period of internal conflict, desperately wanting to escape from her despair-filled life through finding a new person to love. Despite wanting to escape what she believes is a loveless marriage, Taani feels compelled to stay with Suri due to the promise that she made to her father. Suri also faces an extraordinary paradox: Taani's sheer misery as his wife in contrast to her delight with his fabricated alter ego, Raj. He thus attempts to win Taani's love as Suri, an act which only alienates her further. She eventually runs away to find Raj in order to tell him the predicament she is in, hoping he will help her. He offers to elope with her, which she agrees to tearfully. They set the date for their elopement to the next night, the night of the competition.
On the day of the competition, Suri takes Taani to the Golden Temple in order to garner God's blessings for her competition that night—and internally, also for her life with Raj. While there Taani has an epiphany in which she believes God has shown her a sign that tells that her marriage to Suri is divinely inspired. For the first time she reflects on her husband and becomes aware of the strength and integrity of Suri's character. Taani thus tells Raj that she cannot run away with him. She leaves him in what appears to be a state of shock with tears in his eyes. When the time comes for their performance Taani is stunned to see Suri, rather than Raj, join her on stage. It is at that moment that Taani puts two and two together and through a series of flashbacks discovers that Suri is in fact Raj. Backstage she confronts Suri and when he confesses his love for her, she tearfully admits that she returns his feelings. The two win the competition and head off on a second honeymoon to Japan.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's ... OM SHANTI OM

STORY

'Om Shanti Om' is an unusual love story that spans 30 years in time. A part of the story is set in 1977. Expectedly, Farah Khan's fixation for the 70s and the fashion statements of that era continues in OSO.
The film has Shah Rukh Khan playing Om Prakash Makhija, a junior artist in film industry in the 1970s. He harbors a dream of becoming a big superstar someday. More than this dream he harbors love for someone special.
Deepika Padukone plays Shantipriya, a superstar of the 70s. Although she has fame and adulation of her fans, she longs for love in her life. She longs for someone who would love her from the bottom of his heart.
Om is not just a fan of Shanti, he loves her deep within. She inspires him and instills him with love and hope. He watches her from afar. But then, one day...
A small incident brings them together. Call it luck, divine intervention or just plain coincidence. When it happened, Om was witnessing the beginning of his love story.
But for some love stories, one lifetime is not enough. Om and Shanti's story is one such. Life and love would betray them both. But they would meet again in another life.
The story of OSO apparently has a reincarnation angle.
The second part of the story is set in 2007. SRK plays actor Om Kapoor and Deepika Padukone plays Sandy.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's ... CHAK DE INDIA

STORY

Jo nahin ho sakta hai, wahi to karna hai..

'Chak De India' is the story of a coach's fight to make his team, Team India, the best in the world. It is a film about self-belief, perseverance, determination and the human spirit to fight and win. Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) knows what it's like to come back from the dead. The ex Indian Captain has now come back in the avatar of the Coach of the Indian Women's National Hockey team. A team that exists more on paper and less in reality.
The team is a rag-tag bunch of girls with their own agenda. A bunch of girls who have forgotten what it is like to play for the love of the game. Of playing because you want glory for your country. Not because you want a pensioned job or a government flat.
They have all forgotten the sharp thrill of just holding the hockey stick, keeping their eyes on the ball and playing for all they are worth. They have played every game of hockey to make sure they get selected every year in the Indian National team. But what does it really mean to play for the Indian National team? To play for India? The girls have never known the thrilling energy of being Team India. Of giving their all to see their country's name on a trophy. But Kabir Khan, once a captain, now forgotten, does.
Kabir Khan knows what it takes to get there. And what it means to return empty handed. This time, he wants to make sure that it's different. He knows there are no second chances.
Despite his past, Kabir Khan believes that if only the girls played as one, anything would be possible. Because Kabir believes that it is not that we can't win. It's just that we have never believed we can.
'Chak De India' is the story of a coach's fight of making his team, Team India, by overcoming their diverse backgrounds, by learning to use everything that life hurls on them as a secret weapon.
It's a story about honesty, sincerity and integrity. A story to remind the nation of its National sport.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's ... DON - The Chase Begins Again

STORY

The Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. There are rumours that a drug gang has recently moved their headquarters to Kuala Lumpur. The Indian team is headed by DCP D'Silva (Boman Irani) who wants to break the back of the drug operations of a drug lord named Singhania. Also helping him is Malik (Om Puri). He believes that capturing Singania's dangerous and elusive lieutenant, Don, (Shahrukh Khan), will be the most effective way of accomplishing this. Don's gang consist of Narang (Pawan Malhotra) and Anita (Ishaa Koppikar). Soon, Roma (Priyanka Chopra) joins them but she has other plans - kill Don; Don was responsible for killing her brother Ramesh as well as his fiancee, Kamini (Kareena Kapoor).During a chase with the police the real Don is seriously injured and is captured by D'Silva. He keeps it a secret that he has captured Don, even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Vijay, a lovely singer (also played by Shahrukh Khan). He asks Vijay to infiltrate Don's gang by pretending to be Don. In return he will make sure that the child Vijay found and adopted, Deepu (who is the son of Jasjit played by Arjun Rampal) gets a proper education. Meanwhile, Jasjit who has just been released from prison sets out in search for his son, Deepu, and to get his revenge on DCP D'Silva who arrested him and prevented him from rescuing his wife and child from black mailers. Jasjit's anger stems from the loss of his wife, who died after her sons kidnapping, and his missing son.D'Silva trains Vijay and admits him to a hospital, the same hospital in which Don is also admitted and supposedly in coma, to surgically give him all the scars and birthmarks the real Don has on his body. However, Don dies of heart failure suddenly in front of D'Silva and the doctors, who are unable to save him. While Vijay is infiltrating Don's gang, D'Silva is captured and killed in a fire blast. Vijay is forced to run from the police as well as Don's gang members who are pursuing a disc, the last piece of evidence which has all of Don's criminal activities loaded on it, a disc which can get him, Vijay, out of his mess.Through various plot twists, Vijay recovers the disc. Eventually, it surfaces that D'Silva is alive and is actually Vardhan, a notorious underground criminal with a grudge against Singhania, Don's boss, and eventually ends up killing Singhania. Vijay arranges a meeting with Vardhan and assists in his capture. In a final twist, it emerges that the real Don is still alive, and was pretending to be Vijay who he killed and replaced while in the hospital. It was actually Vijay who had died in the hospital of heart failure in front of Vardhan (DCP D'Silva). In the end, both Don and his girlfriend Anita (Ishaa Koppikar) escape, bewildering the police and Roma. Critics believe that this twist was done to setup a possible sequel.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's ... KABHI ALVIDA NA KAHNA

STORY

Dev Saran (Shahrukh Khan), a formerly successful, now injured soccer player, is unhappily married to Rhea (Preity Zinta), who has a high-flying job with a fashion magazine. They have a son named Arjun. Maya (Rani Mukerji) is about to marry her childhood friend Rishi Talwar (Abhishek Bachchan). Samarjit a.k.a "Sexy Sam" (Amitabh Bachchan) is Rishi's dad, and Kamaljit (Kirron Kher) plays the peppy mom to Dev.
Dev happens to meet Maya before her wedding and despite being strangers, they connect instantly. It could be that the two are unhappy with their partners, it could be that Dev was only too happy to talk of his uncomfortable marriage or it could be that Maya just could not love Rishi and so, found Dev attractive. Whatever the case, the connection between the two remains a glowing spark that re-ignites when they meet four years later.
During those four years, Maya has married Rishi and Dev has met with an accident that leaves him crippled and ends his football career. So when Maya meets Dev the next time, he is bitter - his failed career and failing marriage are festering wounds to which his wife Rhea's professional success is salt. In the Talwar home, things are no better - Maya still does not feel any love for Rishi and feels guilty for her inability to have children.
Dev and Maya realize that their situations are similar and decide to help each other repair their breaking marriages. Things don't work quite as expected however, and they become more and more drawn to each other. At the same time, Rishi and Rhea are working to keep their marriages afloat and are willing to see hope in even the smallest, most innocuous signs from their partners. However, their efforts are insignificant in the face of Maya and Dev's intense unhappiness in their marriages and their growing love for each other.
Dev and Maya give in to a dreamy, coffee-drenched romance and realize they have fallen in love. However, when Dev is about to give flowers to Maya, he sees Rhea and gives them to her so she doesn't see Maya. He saves one rose for Maya. She takes the rose home and Rishi sees it and Maya gives it to him. Rhea and Rishi now think that their partners really love them and are happy. But after an incident at the ballet that makes Dev intensely jealous, they realize they now feel like they are cheating on each other with their own spouses. This realization brings them to a dramatic point of no return. Shortly afterward, they are caught in an embrace outside the train station by Sam and Kamaljeet.
Sam, having lived the good life for a long, long time ultimately has to bear the punishment of all his excesses - he has a fatal heart attack and as he lies on his death bed, he gives Maya some unconventional advice: he tells her to leave his son Rishi since neither of them are happy in their marriage.
Things come to a head and Dev and Maya decide to leave each other and return to their partners. But this re-union will not be without honesty, so they come clean and confess their extra-marital affair. Rishi and Rhea decide that enough is enough and end their marriages - this doesn't mean that Maya and Dev come together however. They only speak to each other on the phone, and lie to each other, saying that all is well in their marriages.
Three years later, Rishi goes to meet Maya and invites her to his wedding. There Rhea sees Maya for the first time in three years and realizes that she and Rishi weren't together as she thought. The news that Dev is still alone, combined with some prodding from Rishi and Rhea convinces Maya to run after Dev. Dev is about to catch a train to Canada when he sees Maya. He hides from her because he has told Maya earlier than he was happy with Rhea and he thinks that she is happily married to Rishi. However, Maya finds him in his seat a few seconds before his train leaves the station. He uses the emergency brakes to get out to meet her. Realising how alone the two have been, Dev proposes to Maya and she accepts.

STORY

Three young men arrive at a train station during a night and strike an instant friendship. They are all going to join a famous Indian private school, 'Gurukul'.
Gurukul is run by a stern headmaster named Narayan Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan). He is a strict disciplinarian who believes his institute runs because of his principles, rules and disciplines. Apparently the students are picked from universities all over the country to study at Gurukul and the headmaster has high expectations of them. The headmaster has instituted a strict anti-romance policy. He says that students who become romantically involved will be expelled.
The three friends all have their hearts set on different girls. Sameer (Jugal Hansraj) works in a cafe and is in love with his childhood friend Sanjana (Kim Sharma). Unfortunately for Sameer, she already has a boyfriend. Vikram (Uday Chopra) catches Ishika (Shamita Shetty) stealing apples from the Gurukul gardens, and falls in love at first sight. Karan (Jimmy Shergill) sees Kiran (Preeti Jhangiani) when he is waiting for a train. Kiran is married to an Army Officer who never returned from war. She behaves as if her husband were still alive because of her father-in-law, General Khanna (Amrish Puri) who holds hope that his son is alive. They all give up hope of taking their romance to the next level, for the fear of Narayan Shankar and his stern ways.
The pupils soon meet Raj Aryan Malhotra (Shahrukh Khan). With flowers and a violin in his hand, Raj wants to join Gurukul as a music teacher. After some reluctance, Narayan Shankar allows Raj to join the institute. Raj teaches music, spreads the message of love amongst the 3 men, and encourages them to follow their hearts and fall in love.
Raj tells the 3 students of a man who loved a woman named Megha (Aishwariya Rai) who was forbidden to love him due to her father,Narayan Shankar. Due to this, she committed suicide by jumping off her bedroom balcony. Nevertheless, Raj continues to love her. The audience gets a glimpse of Megha, who lives in Raj's imagination and speaks to him when he is alone.
As the boys fall in love, the relationship between the headmaster and the music teacher begins to become strained. Much to the chagrin of the headmaster, Raj begins to implement many changes. He begins hosting parties, inviting girls from the nearby girls hostel, celebrating festivals and encouraging students to break the strict rules.
In the second part of the film, it is revealed that Raj was once also a student in Gurukul, and the girl he fell in love with was none other than the headmaster's daughter, Megha. When Narayan found out he banned them from seeing each other, expelled the boy without seeing him, and distanced himself from his daughter. She became upset and ultimately committed suicide by throwing herself out the window.
This tragic experience inspired Raj to spread love throughout Gurukul, and one day reach out to Narayan Shankar and show him to magic of love and affection.
When Narayan Shankar realizes that Raj is the same boy who was in love with his daughter, he pulls all steps to remove him from the institute. Raj continues to help the 3 boys and their lovers to meet against school rules and the story turns into war between Raj Aryan and Narayan Shankar.

SHAHRUKH KHAN's...DIL SE

STORY

Amarkant "Amar" Varma (Shahrukh Khan), an All-India Radio journalist living in Delhi, India, is dispatched to the troubled North-Eastern region to report on attitudes relating to the 50th Anniversary of Indian independence. There, he interviews a terrorist leader on his group's motivation and ethics. He meets Meghna (Manisha Koirala) at a railway station and chats with her. But when he goes to get her a cup of tea, Meghna departs on a train with three men. Some weeks later he spots her in the street and accosts her but she resists and pretends not to recognise him. Amar comes near where she lives and tells her he loves her from the heart, "dil se." To stop him from following her, Meghna tells him that she is married. Amar feels embarrassed for flirting with a married woman, and sincerely wishes to apologize to her. He arranges a meeting with her to do so, but she brings two mysterious men with her, who subsequently take Amar away and beat him. This harsh experience invigorates Amar to find Meghna again. After finding out her plans to visit Ladakh, he follows her with the convenient excuse of reporting on the local festivities and she gives him the slip there too.
As Amar heads home, he finds her on the same bus. He starts flirting with her and mocking her for having her supposed husbands beat him up. Then the security guard asks Amar his business, and Amar tells him he's reporting in the festivals. The guard asks Meghna what her business is and she tells him she is with Amar. The bus breaks down and the passengers are forced to walk a two-day journey to their destination. Amar nearly loses Meghna again but catches up with her, angered about the fact she had used him, and accusing her of being a morally loose tease. She tells him her name and that the two men who beat him were her brothers. Amar tries to aggressively advance upon Meghna, which causes her a painful anxiety attack.During the pair's two day walk they have a whirlwind adventure through the desert. Though the two fall for each other, Meghna slips away and leaves Amar to return to the safety of Delhi alone. Upon is return, he finds that his family want him to meet Preeti Nair (Preity Zinta), a potential bride. Amar and Preeti both agree to get married. Then Meghna shows up in Delhi and comes to Amar's house, on the day he is to be engaged to Preeti, and asks for a place to stay, which Amar and his family give her. It is revealed that she is a member of a terrorist group, who came to Delhi to kill the prime minister on the Republic Day parade. When Amar finds out about her plan, he takes her away and confronts her. They get into an argument resulting in Amar tugging on Meghna's clothes, suspecting her of carrying a weapon or wearing a bomb vest. He is taken by the police for molestation. However, other members of Meghna's terrorist group negotiate with the policeman to release Amar. They then take him and beat him up again, leaving him in an empty corner, bleeding and in pain. Amar hears a phone ring and picks it up and realises it is Meghna (who is trying to call one of them). On the phone he begs her to come to him while pretending that her friends are still beating him up. Meghna cuts off the phone and begins to cry and feel guilt for what she has done to Amar. Amar escapes and the next day finds Meghna (he had planned to stop her from carrying on with the terrorist attack). She clearly tells him to stay away from her. Amar begs and pleads, but when he embraces her she yells out because he might activate the bomb in her vest. He then whispers in her ear, "If you won't come with me, take me with you." After Amar's continued imploring and begging, Meghna's intense inner struggle subsides; she embraces Amar, detonating the bomb and killing them both.
